Known as the “Olympics of violin making,” the Antonio Stradivari International Triennial Competition of Stringed Instruments”- in Italian Concorso Triennale Internazionale degli Strumenti ad Arco Antonio Stradivari - often referred to simply as the “Triennale” - is one of the premier international violin and bow making competitions in the world and takes place every three years in Cremona, Italy.

There have been 15 total Triennale competitions, although only 13 gold medals for violin have been awarded. There was no gold medal awarded for violin at the 11th Cremona Triennale Lutherie Competition in 2006 or the 14th Cremona Triennale Lutherie Competition in 2014.

Of the 13 gold medals awarded for violin, violin makers from Germany and France each have 4 medals, and the remaining 5 medals are one each from the United States, France, the Czech Republic, Japan, and Finland.
