The Six Violin Makers Who Have Been Awarded the Rare "Double Gold" Medal at the Violin Society of America (VSA) International Violinmaking Competition

The Violin Society of America (VSA) has sponsored 23 violinmaking competitions between 1975 and 2018 and the VSA Competition has become known as one of the premier international violin and bow making competitions in the world. During those 23 competitions, the VSA has granted 1578 awards.

Of the 1578 total awards granted by the VSA over its 23 competitions, only six (6) awards have been the rare Double Gold Medal for Workmanship and Tone. Click here to see why the double gold medal is so rarely awarded.
